The Missouri United School Insurance Council (MUSIC) is a non-profit, self-insurance pooling program that provides coverage to Missouri’s public schools and community colleges. Insurance website design and development was out of its wheelhouse — so Paradigm stepped in to help.
Working together to protect what matters most
CHALLENGE
The previous MUSIC site utilized several disparate systems, requiring members to log in multiple times across different sites to access basic insurance information. Due to the abundance of text and complex navigation menus, many MUSIC members contacted support for help locating the information they needed.
SOLUTION
Paradigm reimagined MUSIC’s website to streamline standard processes for members and provide a more intuitive experience. Through custom portal development, we enabled members to locate information, while providing staff with a seamless content management system that can be updated as needed.
Website Strategy
Intuitive structures and appropriate access takes priority in insurance website design andd development.
Single-Sign-On (SSO)
MUSIC had three user types: public users, MUSIC members and school administrators. Each had a different login screen, which created unnecessary confusion.
Our software team responded by transforming MUSIC’s Content Management System (CMS) into the identity provider for single sign-on. This empowered MUSIC to manage its user list in the CMS, ensuring members and administrators always have role-appropriate access granted.
Navigation Menus
The previous site’s architecture presented a few setbacks. Important content was present, but its structure was too complex to navigate. To resolve this, we reorganized pages into a user-friendly menu and sub-navigation system. Our insurance website design and development enabled users to explore independently, without calling the MUSIC staff.
Web Forms
MUSIC members prefer real-time interactions over fax machines. As such, our custom portal development team implemented web forms that respond to a user’s answers instantaneously — resulting in rapid, consistent responses from MUSIC’s staff.
Email Marketing
Previously, MUSIC distributed emails in plain text via a system that lacked basic copy-and-paste functionality. Our developers updated the organization’s email marketing system to a branded platform that’s easy to use and customizable based on the content.

Branding + Design
Standing still means blending in, so MUSIC strengthened its standing.
Tagline
Since the insurance industry is full of near-identical voices, MUSIC needed a stronger point of view. Our branding team responded with a new tagline: “Protecting Missouri’s Future.” The phrase asserts strength while alluding to the organization’s insurance offerings and commitment to the next generation.
Imagery
During custom portal development, we felt a new “look” was in order. Our designers added imagery of students in situations that could pose insurance risks, such as boarding a bus or conducting an experiment. This insurance website design emphasized that, with MUSIC coverage, students have the security they need to be children.
In addition, designers created a custom icon set to help MUSIC members navigate the site and visually understand the complex nature of the insurance industry.
