Saint Louis University School of Medicine: Innovations in Medical Education
Building Upon a Theme
Following a series of discovery meetings, we selected a central theme for the content and graphic direction of the latest issue of the Grand Rounds Magazine — Innovations in Medical Education.
Each story highlights specific innovative changes within the School’s curriculum that supports its mission, values and most importantly, today’s evolving learners. Through our collaboration with the SLU team, we highlighted specific stories centered around the School’s learner-centric curriculum and innovative medical education practices. Additionally, we produced exciting alumni, faculty and student stories that shared how SLU impacts their careers and outlooks on medicine.
Design for a New Era
Alongside storytelling, SLU desired a fresh and modern presentation of its magazine. Our design team incorporated a balance of vibrant photography, curated design elements and editorial typography to refresh its design. We utilized two key colors of the Saint Louis University brand, SLU Blue and Rooftop Teal, to give the magazine its own brand identity while staying true to the overall SLU brand.
The magazine utilizes large blocks of color and patterns on each page — representing both SLU and its roots in medicine. In particular, we incorporated the fleur de lis inside page backgrounds by enlarging portions of its design to give it a different look on each page.
Looking Ahead with Saint Louis University School of Medicine
Today, the magazine is available both digitally to the public and in print to the Saint Louis University School of Medicine’s list of subscribers. We look forward to continuing our partnership with SLU through this magazine and many of its other schools.
